Traveling by air is supposed to be comfortable and convenient but when you are traveling with your family or a group it often gets difficult to get adjacent seats or an arrangement to sit together. But if you are aware of flight web check-in, you will know about the option to select your preferred seats by paying a little extra so that everyone can sit together during the flight.
Despite this option, some passengers refuse to use it and ask others to exchange their paid seats with the expectation of sitting next to their friends or family. During any trip wishing to sit together as a family or a group is considered one of the important factors of the journey. But is it fair to ask co-passengers to exchange the seats they paid for? One such recent incident became a topic of discussion due to a viral tweet.

The X user and passenger Mahesh, shared his ordeal when a woman asked him to switch his paid seats on the flight out of Bengaluru
But a woman passenger on a flight from Bengaluru asked Mahesh to move to a different seat so their family could sit together, she was shocked by his response.
The passenger agreed to switch seats but only if she paid him the amount he had paid for the seat. To add sarcasm while making the offer Mahesh stated he would accept the payment either in cash or via GPay.
But according to Mahesh, the woman glared at him when asked to pay, leaving him confused. Mahesh wrote on X,
“On a flight out of BLR. Someone asked if I could move to a different seat so their family could sit together. I said sure and that I accept cash/GPay, and told her I paid xxx for that seat. Wonder why she looked so pissed off. What did she expect me to do, jump up&out of my seat?”

All right, this blew up. Anyone who uses this idea in the future, please be prepared for a REALLY angry look at first followed by a couple of muttered insults, n plenty of mumbling in the flight that is JUST out of decipherable range. Happy Ugaadi/Gudi Padva in advance, everyone!

Here have a look at what netizens said about the incident
A pilot relative of mine told me it’s fairly common for passengers to try and sneak into business or first class after takeoff and just take a seat. The crew deal with it by pulling out the duty free trolley card machine and presenting the “onboard upgrade bill”
They always go…

We are so used to making flippant demands with an expectation that they necessarily be met just because we requested ‘politely’.

An uncle parked himself in my paid aisle seat and exoected me to go sit in his middle seat. I refused. I came back after a pre take off bio break and he had again parked himself on my seat. I had to yell at him and shame him.

Well done! 👏👏
Let me guess – she offered you a middle seat in exchange?
Not planning ahead combined with an entitled attitude deserves this response. 🤣

Already gone through this, while returning from Goa one miss who had the middle seat wanted me(window) or other male (aisle) to exchange. We both had paid for the seat and told the same to her.
I remember a lot of mumbling before taking off, I simply put my headphones ON.— Kumaun Warrior (@KumaunWarrior) April 8, 2024

It happened to me once (I was on the other side and wanted someone to take my seat in the back row). Promptly offered to GPay the seat fare to him. The man was kind enough to do it.

yes they act as if in a MELA, by the time flight lands they would all get lost and can be united with a family song 20 years later.
