Harbhajan Singh, the former India off-spinner lashed out after losing his cool at former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq. In a viral video, Inzamam disclosed that Harbhajan was apparently close to converting from Sikhism to Islam. The video where Inzaman can be heard talking about Harbhajan surfaced on social media. During one of India’s tours to Pakistan, the ex-chief-selector of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) claimed this about Harbhajan.
Recently, before Pakistan’s exit from the ICC World Cup 2023, Inzamam resigned from his post of Chief Selector of the Pakistan cricket team. There were allegations raised against him for conflict of interest. Due to allegations of his shareholding in ‘Yazo International Limited’, a company associated with player agent Talha Rehmani, Inzamam-ul-Haq is facing inspection.

This revelation has raised concerns about potential clashes of interest, as Rehmani represents several renowned Pakistani cricketers, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi. Further, Inzamam’s dual roles as Chief Selector and shareholder in a company representing top cricketers have raised questions about whether it might influence the decisions of player selection. This controversy started with disagreements concerning central contracts between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and players.
Inzamam told PCB,
“I am stepping down from the post to offer the PCB the opportunity to conduct a transparent inquiry about the conflict of interest allegations raised in the media. If the committee finds me not guilty, I will resume my role as the chief selector.”

In the video, Inzamam-ul-Haq claimed that after meeting Maulana Tariq Jameel, who used to come over and read Namaz with the Pakistan cricket team, Harbhajan Singh was close to converting to Islam.

On Inzamam’s remark on Harbhajan’s religion conversion, the former spinner took to social media and slammed Inzamam for his ridiculous claims

In a subsequent video, the former Pakistan captain and the ex-Chief Selector of the Pakistan team, Inzamam further disclosed that he and his fellow teammate Saqlain Mushtaq tried to convert foreigners and English players to Islam for a club in which they played. In one of the videos, he also said that they had even approached West Indies player Brian Lara about changing his religion to Islam.
