Due to their wide range of appeal, banana chips have become remarkably popular and addicting. Consumers are drawn to their many flavor profiles, which range from sweet to salty, and the gratifying crunch they provide.

Banana chips are a great complement to sugary treats thanks to the enhanced natural sweetness of bananas. The chips are adored widely throughout many countries and locations due to their ties to nostalgia and traditions. Apart from this, they are also well-known for their nutritional advantages, portability, cultural variety, and convenience. This popular snack has won over people’s hearts and taste buds all around the world and has emerged as an enduring representation of convenience, comfort, and deliciousness.

However, our beloved snack has recently been in the news for wholly different reasons. Shockingly, banana chips have become the reason behind Zomato’s recent apology.

Zomato posts a cheeky post on banana chips, comparing them to drugs.

Zomato, a well-known meal delivery service, recently got into the middle of a huge controversy on social media after the company’s official X (previously Twitter) handle posted about banana chips. The post appeared to be making fun of banana chips. In the post, a package of banana chips was sitting on a desk inside Zomato’s Gurgaon offices. To make it more interesting, Zomato put them next to a computer screen with the word “HELPPP!!!” written in bold letters.

Zomato poked fun at the Gurgaon police, joking that someone had brought “drugs” to the office. By doing this, they made a comparison between the addictiveness of banana chips and the actual drugs. Along with the photo, Zomato wrote,

“Hello @gurgaonpolice someone brought drugs to office.”

Nevertheless, this post drew criticism from a user by the name of Ravi Handa. The user said it was inappropriate behavior for a publicly traded firm because it unnecessarily and jestingly involved police enforcement. Sharing Zomato’s post, Ravi wrote,

“Isn’t it irresponsible behavior from a listed company? They should not be tagging police handles just to score some likes / RTs on social media. Now someone from Gurgaon Police will have to respond to this and waste resources which could be better used elsewhere.”

Zomato responded to Ravi’s criticism of their post.

In response, Zomato promptly acknowledged the criticism and issued an apology. They also acknowledged the post’s irresponsibility and subsequently removed it. In response, Zomato wrote,

“Hi Ravi, you’re right. Reading it from another lens, we realized its an irresponsible and unnecessary tweet. We’ve taken it down and sincerely apologise.”

Despite this incident, Zomato is known for its lighthearted and humorous takes on current events. Their social media accounts frequently share funny content related to topics like cricket matches and festivals.
