Cricket lovers are hooked on the ongoing India vs. Australia ODI series 2023. Team India won against Australia with a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. In the second ODI between India and Australia, held in Indore, the Men in Blue displayed a challenging batting display as India amassed 399 for five on the scoreboard.
Though the ace players Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Rohit Sharma were not in action, Team India batters still managed to steal the limelight. Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer scored their respective centuries. KL Rahul scored another fifty with his great form while Suryakumar Yadav put on a career-best score.

On Sunday, the spectators witnessed a world record-scripting show in Indore by veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin
Ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin played his second consecutive ODI game in 20 months and led the charge in bowling. Ashwin’s spell in the second innings showed excellent consistency as the crafty off-spinner contested Australia’s chase with remarkable figures of 3/41 in 7 overs to help India bowl out Australia for 217.
Ashwin’s quick wickets caused Australia to fall from 89 for 2 to 101 for five in just 12 balls. Ashwin also became the highest wicket-taker for India in international cricket against a single opponent with the three-wicket haul. He surpassed Kapil Dev (141 vs Pakistan) and Anil Kumble (142 vs Australia) as Ashwin took his tally to 144 against the Aussies.
You must be aware that Ashwin is not being considered for India’s 2023 World Cup team and he was selected for the Australian series to replace Axar who was recovering from an injury. Axar was expected to return for the 3rd ODI but Ashwin’s impressive performance will definitely compel the team management to reconsider their choices.
Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal also missed out on the World Cup spot but showed his full support for Ashwin with his tweet.

In the final tie against Australia in Rajkot on Wednesday, the presence of Ashwin now depends on Axar’s recovery as the spin all-rounder is subject to clearing the fitness test.
For Ashwin, the first ODI against South Africa was his first appearance in the 50-
over format in 20 years. In the last six years before this series, Ashwin had played just two ODIs. His performance in the India vs. Australia ODI was unexpectedly powerful.
