The market for the lower end of the mid-size SUV segment is currently dominated by the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. The starting price of those models is just over Rs 10 lakh. There are many more options in that segment like the MG Astor, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq and the VW Taigun. Even before the introduction of Tata BlackBird, it is assumed that the product is going to control the market with a 5-star rating.
9. Tata BlackBird: Delay in the launch
According to current media sources, there is a high possibility that Tata might have cancelled the ‘Blackbird’ project. Supposedly, Tata was to collaborate with Chinese automaker Chery on this SUV, but due to rising tensions between India and China, Tata could have abandoned this proposal. Tata, on the other hand, has a backup plan.
As per the rumours, Tata may be working on a new coupe-style SUV called Curvv, designed by adapting the Nexon’s X1 platform to the C-segment. It was also showcased at the start of the year 2022.
