Raina roasting Kusha Kapila created a huge controversy on the internet
Popular internet personality, Kusha Kapila was seen on the Pretty Good Roast Show Season 1, where Samay Raina and many comedians roasted the actress. However, Samay’s dig into her personal life created a huge controversy on the internet.
Earlier this year, on the show Samay Raina made jokes about Kusha’s divorce from Zorawar Ahluwalia. The roast attracted backlash, as many found it inappropriate and “dehumanizing.”
During the roast, Samay targeted Kusha’s marriage, and her divorce, and also referred to her pet dog, which she shares with her ex-husband Zorawar. He said in Hindi,
“Kusha has a female dog, who is with Kusha half the time, and during the other half remains happy. Just give the dog to Zorawar. Let him have at least one b**ch in his life.”
Some comedians joined in and also took a dig at Kusha’s recent weight loss.
Kusha responded to it with a cryptic message
In response, Kusha later took to social media and called the jokes on her body and her divorce, “shockingly unkind” and advised others to “let it slide off.”
She wrote,
“When someone’s trying to disempower you, it’s their garbage. It’s not yours to store. Let it slide off you.”
She added,
“I had no idea what was in store for me. Maybe I should have asked for a script and known better but since friends were involved I didn’t. Rookie mistake.”
She voiced regret about not reviewing the script beforehand. She stated that her episode was the first to be shot, which led to stricter boundaries in subsequent episodes, especially for women.

Kusha wrote,
“While I endured some of the really raspy jokes in front of a live audience and technicians, I absolutely was not okay for it to play for millions of people since some jokes straight up dehumanised me. It was shockingly unkind,” Kusha shared, adding, “Mine was the first episode to be shot (was shot in January) so everyone had fair bit of learnings post shoot which is why in other episodes, boundaries haven’t been crossed, especially with women.”
