Given the success of Baahubali‘s franchise, S. S. Rajamouli has come up with another epic action film, RRR (Rise, Roar, Revolt). The film has sparked a lot of interest since its release. This new Telugu-language grand historical action-drama film was written by K. V. Vijayendra Prasad and produced by D. V. V. Danayya of DVV Entertainment.

RRR is already in its second week, and the movie is still doing well at the box office. The movie has cemented its place as a blockbuster, with no sign of a decrease on its second Friday. According to reports, the picture grossed $223 million globally on its first day and in its first week.

RRR made a total of $710 crore (USD 93.3 million) internationally, with 279.5 crores coming from its native state of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The film has gotten a positive reception across India, and it is projected to smash many records.

T. Rama Rao Jr., Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, and Olivia Morris are among the cast members.

Rajamouli explained,

“RRR displays Ram Charan and Jr NTR recreating the fairly young versions of Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem — the groundbreaking freedom warriors from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana,” Rajmouli says at the film’s 1st media briefing in Hyderabad, with Jr NTR, Ram Charan, and producer DVV Danayya. They remain far from home (in Delhi) before fighting for the country.”

RRR is a fictitious story of one of India’s greatest freedom warriors, Alluri Sitarama Raju (played by Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (played by N. T. Rama Rao Jr.) and their struggle against the British Raj

Rajamouli stumbled across stories of Rama Raju and Bheem’s life and linked the dots, picturing what might have occurred if they had met and become friends. The story is set in 1920 and covers an unrecorded moment in their life when both revolutionaries chose to disappear before starting the struggle for their nation.

So, let’s have a sneak peek in to the life of Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem:

Alluri Sitarama Raju

Alluri Sitarama Raju, an Indian freedom fighter who became a monk at the age of 18, led the Rampa Rebellion in 1922, which was in response to the British Raj’s enactment of the 1882 Madras Forest Act, which severely restricted tribal groups’ freedom of movement inside their own forests.

As a result of the Act’s repercussions, the community was hesitant to fully execute the traditional Podu agricultural practice, which involved shifting cropping.

Raju was apprehended by the authorities, bound to a tree, and executed in a public execution in 1924, thereby putting an end to the armed uprising. For his bravery, he was given the title of “Manyam Veerudu,” or “forest hero.”

Komaram Bheem

Komaram Bheem, another Indian freedom fighter, had escaped from prison and was sheltering on a tea plantation in Assam. While he was there, he learnt about Alluri’s insurrection and was moved to protect the Gond tribe to which he belonged. His exact birth year is uncertain, however, he is thought to have been born about 1900.

He led a revolt against the last Nizam of Hyderabad and the tyranny of local landowners in the early 1900s. Nizam is accused of murdering defenceless indigenous people. Furthermore, hefty taxes on agricultural revenue were imposed, making it difficult for the poor to survive.

The historical term Jal Jangal Zameen, coined by Bheem, has been widely repeated in Adivasi conflicts to this day.

S. S. Rajamouli, tied these two historical threads together in his film RRR, set a century later

There was no record of these activists’ conduct because neither of them lived in their own villages several times, according to the director. Both of them had been away from their homes for a few years, and when they returned, they planned an insurrection for the liberation of their people, for which they were killed.
