In ongoing India vs Bangladesh 2022 series, Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma played his part in an efficient manner despite his injury. In the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh, India required 64 off 44, and Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten 51 off 28. He smashed five sixes and three boundaries.
Though India lost to Bangladesh by five runs, the courageous effort of Rohit Sharma is being praised by all the fans. The Indian captain had a finger injury as he suffered a blow to his thumb during the game while fielding.

The incident occurred in the second over when he dropped Anamul Haque at slips off Mohammed Siraj. After being checked by the BCCI medical team, Sharma didn’t return to the field to play. KL Rahul took over but Rohit’s absence was felt.
When Rohit saw that the Men In Blue needed him, he came out to bat at the No. 9 spot despite having an injured thumb. This courageous move by the Indian skipper won everyone’s hearts and he also garnered respect from his peers and fans including his wife Ritika Sajdeh.

The proud wife Ritika wrote on her Instagram story,
“I love you, and I’m so proud of the man you are. To go out like that and do that.”
Speaking about how grave the injury is, Rohit remarked,
At the post-match presentation ceremony, Rohit was found speaking about his injury. He admitted that there was a dislocation of the thumb but he hasn’t sustained a fracture. Rohit said,

“It (thumb injury) isn’t too great. Some dislocation and some stitches. Fortunately, not a fracture, so I was able to bat,”
Speaking on Sony Sports Network, Sharma opened up about the bowlers Mehidy and Mahmudullah’s 148-run partnership for the seventh wicket and expressed his disappointment by saying,
“From being 69/6, allowing them to get to 270-odd wasn’t a great effort from our bowlers. Not taking anything away from Mehidy and Mahmudullah; (it) was a great partnership, but we also need to find ways of breaking such partnerships.”
Though the Hitman couldn’t confirm for how long he will be off the field, head coach Rahul Dravid declared that Rohit will be out of the 3rd ODI.
In the press conference later on Wednesday, Dravid said that to get his thumb analyzed, Rohit will go to Mumbai. His participation in the upcoming Test series will be cleared only after a thorough checkup. Rahul Dravid stated,
“We are struggling with a few injuries as well. Not ideal. Kuldeep, Deepak and Rohit will certainly miss the next game. Rohit will miss the next game, fly back to Bombay, consulting with an expert. Whether he will return for the Test series or not, I am not sure. It’s too early to say,”
India lost to Bangladesh for the second time in the ODI series being hosted in Bangladesh after seven long years. While the Indian supporters are looking forward to the 3rd and final ODI on Saturday, the focus is on the forthcoming Test series for the Indian team to bounce back hard. All-rounder Deepak Chahar also suffered a hamstring injury after bowling only three overs in the game and whether he will play the next match remains doubtful.
