In India, cricket is sometimes referred to as a religion due to its immense popularity. It has served as a platform for many people’s hopes, goals, and achievements. Among the emerging stars in Indian cricket is Rinku Singh, a talented left-handed top-order batsman and right-handed off-spinner who has carved his niche in both domestic and international cricket.
Rinku Singh, who was raised in Aligarh, rose to the top of Indian cricket with determination and a love for the game. He was the third child in a family of five siblings, and his early life was marked by financial struggles. But as he progressed through the ranks and represented Uttar Pradesh at the Under-16, Under-19, and Under-23 levels, Singh’s talent for cricket quickly became apparent. As a result, he soon marked his List-A debut for Uttar Pradesh in March 2014 at the age of 16. He has also gained so much fame by playing first-class cricket in the Ranji Trophy.

However, what made him a household name was his stint in the Indian Premier League. After struggling for years, Rinku Singh etched his name in the annals of IPL history with a breathtaking performance in 2023. Playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders against the Gujarat Titans, he achieved a record-breaking feat by hitting five consecutive sixes in the last over of the match. With this incredible display of strength and agility, his team successfully chased down 29 runs in the final over. This feat is so miraculous that it earned Singh widespread acclaim.
Nevertheless, Rinku Singh is still making waves in the cricket arena. Currently playing for India at the Asian Games 2022, Rinku once again demonstrated his supremacy in death overs.
Rinku Singh’s sensational last-over hits at the Asian Games 2022 went viral
On October 3, India’s quarterfinal match versus Nepal at the Asian Games T20I was going on in Hangzhou, China. While everything was going normally, Rinku Singh once again displayed his supremacy in the end-overs phase.
In the final three overs of the Indian innings, the powerful batsman, who entered the crease at No. 6, wrecked havoc on the helpless Nepalese bowling lineup. He accumulated a dazzling 37 off only 15 deliveries and completely destroyed the Nepalese bowling plan. Rinku’s onslaught included two fours and four sixes, with two sixes coming in the 20th over, delivered by Abhinash Bohara.

Rinku relentlessly hammered Bohara for two fours and two sixes in the last over. His sensational performance led India to a commanding and winning total of 202/4 in 20 overs in a final-over attack.
His onslaught on the Nepalese side even overshadowed Yashavi Jaiswal’s outstanding century. It’s because Rinku’s knock aided India to stay beyond the 180-run mark on a flat surface with limited boundary dimensions.
The 18th and 19th overs saw sixes from Rinku Singh, giving his innings some momentum. However, it wasn’t until the 20th over that he really hit top form. Of the four maximums he delivered, two particularly stood out, reaffirming the special talent possessed by Rinku.

The significance of Rinku’s outstanding performance was made clear as Nepal’s inexperienced batting team put great pressure on the Indian spinners and came up just 23 runs short.
Rinku Singh is quickly establishing himself as a potential candidate for the senior Indian T20I side as he continually demonstrates his ability to be a force to be reckoned with.
