Here we have listed some of the facts and scenes from the movie that scream misogyny and violence and depict why some people would not like to watch it:

1. The ‘alpha male’ theory

In one of the scenes of the movie, Ranbir explains to Rashmika what’s wrong and right for her and he goes on to explain why she should pick him because he is the ‘alpha male’.

2. The conflict of the alphas

Animal demonstrates the war of two alphas and the women are present in their families just to give birth to their kids so that they can continue the fight in the name of ‘family legacy’.

3. Too much bloodshed and gore in the film

It was clear from the trailer of the movie that Animal was a mass action film. However, the level of violence shown in the movie has surpassed everyone’s expectations. There seems to be a lot of unnecessary bloodshed and gore in the film for Ranbir’s father Anil Kapoor. In the hunt for his father’s rivals, the ‘alpha male’ image is further promoted.

4. Misogyny

Coming from director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the man behind Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh, it’s not surprising that Animal is yet another movie promoting misogyny, with Ranbir Kapoor being the center of attention.

5. Toxic masculinity

The lead actor Ranbir in the film showcases the traits of toxic masculinity on more than one occasion. He compliments his wife ‘Geetanjali’ played by Rashmika Mandanna for her ‘wide pelvis, suitable for healthy babies.’. While his wife is depicted as submissive and silent.

6. Justifying cheating

Ranbir’s character ‘Ranvijay Singh’ is shown to have s*x with another woman despite being married to Rashmika’s character. He even justified his act later. He states that he did it to expose the attackers of his father but it makes more sense when we say that he clearly had other ways.

7. Do not remarry

When Ranbir is about to leave to fight his arch-enemy Abrar in the action-packed movie, he literally says to his wife,

“Sun, agar main waapas nahi aaya to doosri shaadi mat karna”

This clearly justifies control and dictatorship.

8. Drink whiskey, not wine

In one of the scenes, Ranbir’s character shows how dominating and misogynistic he is as when he sees his sister drinking whiskey, he comes to his sister and tells her,

“Why are you drinking whisky? Drink wine”

9. Too lengthy

This film is one of the longest Bollywood has ever produced. The duration of this movie is 3 hours and 22 minutes long. For such a long runtime all the violence and bloodshed is too much and can feel tiresome to watch.
