In the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, the Afghanistan cricket team is set to make their first-ever T20 World Cup semifinal appearance. The team stormed into the semifinal by defeating Australia and Bangladesh in the Super 8 and a massive win over New Zealand in the group stage. The Afghanistan team under Rashid Khan just proved that they are not to be taken lightly.
The team was also in great form in the ODI World Cup last year. They beat prominent teams like Sri Lanka, England, Netherlands, and Pakistan but missed the semifinal berth. They failed to defeat Australia in the ODI World Cup but managed to knock Australia out of the tournament in the T20 World Cup.

Among them, the Afghanistan cricket team received a congratulatory message from legend, Sachin Tendulkar. Skipper Rashid Khan later responded to Rashid Khan Sachin’s tweet with a humble reply.

Afghanistan is scheduled to face South Africa in the first semi-final on Thursday. South Africa has been undefeated in the T20 World Cup so far, and they are in their best form. Having defeated the prominent teams to reach the semifinals, the Afghanistan team is confident enough to make their first-ever T20 World Cup final. India and England will face each other in the second semifinal at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on June 27.
