Corruption is not something unfamiliar to India, with such incidents surfacing across different sectors from time to time. In a recent case, a video has gone viral on social media allegedly showing a TTE offering a Vande Bharat ticket for Rs 380 during an on-board exchange with a passenger. The clip quickly caught public attention and sparked criticism online over irregularities in railway ticketing practices. Following the viral video, the Indian Railways reacted to the matter and reportedly initiated action to look into the incident.
TTE allegedly offered Vande Bharat ticket at nearly half the price, raising corruption concerns
A video circulating widely on social media has brought Indian Railways under fresh scrutiny after a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) was allegedly caught offering a Vande Bharat Express ticket in exchange for money. The clip, shared online by the X account Ghar Ke Kalesh, appears to show the railway official talking to a passenger inside the train coach about arranging a ticket outside the normal booking process. The incident has sparked outrage online, with many calling it a clear example of corruption and misuse of authority.

In the viral video, the TTE can allegedly be heard telling the passenger that the arrangement being discussed was “not allowed.” He then reportedly explained that he could provide the ticket for around Rs 380, while the same journey would otherwise cost nearly Rs 700 through the regular process.
The conversation suggested that the ticket was not being issued through official procedures but through a personal arrangement. Many social media users pointed out that the official seemed to be offering the ticket at a lower price so that the money could directly benefit him instead of going through the railway system.
What has disturbed people the most is that the alleged malpractice appeared to be happening openly inside the train coach. The passenger continued questioning the TTE while recording the conversation, and the official attempted to justify the price difference.

To say that such incidents raise serious concerns about transparency and fairness in public services, especially in a system used daily by millions of passengers would be a sheer understatement.
