During the past decade, food delivery apps have revolutionized the way people consume and order food. Zomato and Swiggy are some of the major players who have contributed to changing the food ordering industry across India and around the world. However, during this rapid growth and expansion, some major challenges are being faced by these apps. One of the most common complaints revolves around pricing transparency and hidden charges.
Users are complaining about how the total cost incurred on these apps includes various additional costs such as delivery fees, packaging fees, and fees charged by the app itself. Recently, a user on social media shared a similar experience with Zomato and a restaurant called Burggrill. The user stated that he was confused after seeing that he was charged Rs 310 on the app, whereas the physical copy of the store’s bill only shows Rs 280. Now, Zomato has reacted to the whole incident.

As per the screenshots posted by the customer in the post, it is clear that the customer had ordered a burger from a restaurant outlet called Burggrill located in Dehradun. As per the order summary displayed by the food-ordering app, it is clear that the cost of the burger ordered by the customer was Rs 358. But at the same time, it is also mentioned that a coupon of Rs 125 had been applied to the order. The amount finally paid by the customer for ordering the burger was Rs 310.89.
However, as per the bill generated by the restaurant, the total amount paid by the customer for ordering the food was Rs 280. The difference between the two amounts is Rs 30.
