Air travel is supposed to be one of the travel modes with better amenities. No one desires to encounter unpleasant surprises during their journey. Incidents like insect infestation in the food area raise concerns about cleanliness and hygiene standards during flights. One such incident occurred recently in an IndiGo plane. A video surfaced on social media posted by a flyer displaying a cluster of cockroaches in the food area of the plane.

Tarun posted the video on social media with the intent that IndiGo would take appropriate measures to prevent flyers from facing such an unhygienic experience. In the post, he expressed his disappointment and the airline to investigate and take proper measures. The video soon went viral, which led to public uproar over the poor hygiene conditions on board IndiGo flights. While sharing the video, Tarun wrote,
“Cockroaches in the food area of a plane (or anywhere, for that matter) are truly awful. One hopes IndiGo takes a hard look at its fleet and checks how this even happened, given that it normally flies relatively new Airbus A320s”

After the video shared by him went viral he shared IndiGo’s response in another tweet.
The accused airline IndiGo acknowledged the video showing a cockroach-infested corner of their aircraft and responded to the viral tweet
IndiGo responded with a tweet saying,

“Our staff promptly took the necessary action onboard. As a precautionary measure, we immediately cleaned the entire fleet and carried out fumigation and disinfection procedures,”
The aviation company further added,
“At IndiGo, we maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene to ensure a safe, hassle-free experience and regret any inconvenience caused to the passengers”
IndiGo says :

This is not the first time that the airline has faced situations related to insects on board. In an incident from last year’s April, a passenger shared a video of a cockroach crawling on their table while he was eating. A similar incident occurred in October in the year 2022 when a passenger spotted a cockroach inside a flight from Patna to Delhi.
