One of the largest railway networks in the world, Indian Railways serves millions of passengers daily. It offers affordable and efficient travel and is crucial for connecting India’s many regions. Even though Indian Railways has made significant progress, travelers still frequently run into a number of ongoing issues that make their trips less enjoyable overall.
Even with programs like “Swachh Rail, Swachh Bharat,” many passengers continue to complain about filthy compartments, unclean restrooms, and unsanitary catering services. Similarly, a Delhi man recently discovered a live centipede in his onboard meal. While the incident was months old, IRCTC addressed media reports and cleared the air regarding it.

Train passenger found live centipede in raita at Delhi’s VIP Railways lounge
A Delhi man named Aaraynsh Singh recently got shocked after noticing the centipede was floating in his raita. However, the big reason behind his shock is that he was eating that raita in the IRCTC VIP Executive Lounge. In reaction to a post asserting that the quality of Indian Railways’ cuisine had improved recently, he posted the photo of this meal on the social media site X.
Along with the picture on Raita, he wrote,
Yes, for sure, Indian Railway food quality has improved, now they are serving raita with more protein.

Aaraynsh went on to say that he cautioned other lounge patrons not to consume the tainted food. To his surprise, no one heeded his warning. He added,
People are crazy. I found a live insect in the food served at one of the IRCTC lounges. I stood up and told everyone to check their food, Everyone came to see it, got angry on administration about the unhygienic conditions, and then went back to eating the same food!
