In recent years, social media has turned out to be one of the most influential platforms in exposing and combating crimes. Social platforms such as X (previously known as Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, and even WhatsApp are today major platforms in making people aware of crimes. With smartphones in almost every hand, crimes such as reckless driving, harassment, robbery, and violence are recorded as soon as they happen. Videos and photos are used as evidence to take immediate action against such crimes.
A recent incident in Delhi is a good example of this. A recent complaint about rash driving on social media went viral. The most interesting thing about the incident is that the chief minister of Delhi herself acknowledged the complaint and wrote about the punishment awarded to the driver.
