An objectionable post by a Congress leader on actor and BJP candidate Kangana Ranaut’s electoral debut sparked a huge controversy on social media. Even the National Commission of Women demanded action against the politician. The post was sent from Congress leader Supriya Shrinate’s account which reportedly showed an image of scantily-dressed Ranaut with a demeaning caption. The post, which is now deleted, attracted a response from the Queen actress.

Ranaut is contesting the elections on a BJP ticket from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, and the post from the Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate was posted just before the national elections.

Shrinate later claimed that the social media post was made by someone who had access to her Facebook and Instagram accounts. She accused a parody account of misusing her name on X. The now-deleted post soon became viral.
Kangana Ranaut took to social media to respond to Ms Shrinate’s demeaning remarks
The actress pointed out that throughout her career she has played different women roles, “from a prostitute in Rajjo to a revolutionary leader in Thalaivii.”
Kangana posted on X,
“Dear Supriya ji, In the last 20 years of my career as an artist I have played all kinds of women. From a naive girl in Queen to a seductive spy in Dhaakad, from a goddess in Manikarnika to a demon in Chandramukhi, from a prostitute in Rajjo to a revolutionary leader in Thalaivii.”
“We must free our daughters from the shackles of prejudices, we must rise above the curiosity about their body parts and above all we must refrain from using sex workers challenging lives or circumstances as some kind of abuse or slur… every woman deserves her dignity,” the actor, who is the BJP candidate from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi”
The Thalaivii actress added,

“If a young man gets ticket his ideology is attacked if a young woman gets ticket her sexuality is attacked. Strange !! Also congress people are sexualising a small town’s name. Mandi is being used in sexual context every where, just because it has a young woman candidate, shame on congress people for displaying sexist tendencies”

Supriya Shrinate defended herself after facing backlash for the objectionable post about Kangana
Emphasizing the fact that the post has been deleted, she also blamed her parody account for the whole mishap. Shrinate even issued a clarification video and said she had deleted the “inappropriate posts” that were made from her handle without her knowledge.
She posted on X, saying,
Many people have access to my Facebook and Instagram accounts. One of these people had posted a very disgusting and objectionable post today.
As soon as I came to know about this, I removed that post. Anyone who knows me knows very well that I don’t make personal remarks about any woman.
It has come to my knowledge that this post was earlier running on a parody account (@Supriyaparody). Someone picked up this post from here and posted it on my account.
I am trying to identify the person who did this. Also, the parody account created by misusing my name has also been reported in X.

The NCW – National Commission for Women sent a letter to the Election Commission of India demanding immediate and strict action against them.
