Kangna Ranaut who has earlier lauded Deepika Padukone for her attempt in bringing the struggle of an an acid attack Survivor to forefront recently criticized Deepika’s social media promotion trick and asked her to apologise for her insensitive approach.

Recently Deepika Padukone had faced backlash from social media users for a TikTok video, where she challenged an influencer to recreate her acid attack survivor look from her latest film Chhapaak.

Kangana Ranaut in a recent interview said, she wants Deepika Padukone to apologise for being insensitive. She said her sister Rangoli Chandel, an acid attack survivor was hurt by the video. Speaking further, Kangna said that her sister Rangoli who herself had undergone several surgeries for being attacked by acid at a tender age and was very offended after watching the video. Kangna, the Panga actor said, sometimes marketing teams tend to go overboard with their promotions, and I am sure Deepika must be having some explanation for this.

In an interview to India Today, Kangana said,

“Rangoli is an acid attack survivor and she was very hurt seeing the video. Sometimes, marketing teams tend to go overboard with their promotions, and I am sure Deepika must be having some explanation for this.”

Demanding an apology from Deepika Padukone, Kangana added,

“The people who are hurt like my sister should be apologised to. This is not a make-up look and nobody should try and achieve it. That kind of insensitivity should be apologised for and there is no harm in doing that because we all make mistakes.”

While one side earlier, Kangana and her family had thanked Deepika and Meghna Gulzar for making a film on acid attack survivors. Team of Kangana has uploaded a video on Instagram, saying that watching the trailer of Chhapak brought back memories of the gruesome incident that happened with her sister Rangoli Chandel several years ago.

Kangana was also seen in the video while saying that she is glad and grateful that this issue is being highlighted by Deepika’s film Chhapak. She added in her words that the film will give more courage to those struggling to cope with this horrifying episode in their lives after their acid attacks.
