Inspirational people who deserve a movie

Bollywood has churned out biopics on many famous personalities including the likes of Sanjay Dutt, MS Dhoni, Neerja Bhanot, etc. Many of such biographical films are announced and still in the pipeline. Given that Bollywood has seen many such successful biopics, it is safe to say that true and inspiring underdog stories will never go out of fashion.

These biographical films are not only minting money but also making people aware about the struggles and hard work of common people. These stories are relatable. Thus, this biopic trend isn’t going to die down anytime soon.

So here’s a list of Indian people whose lives have been inspiring enough to be turned into a biopic.

1. Raja Ram Tiwari

Tiwari was fondly known as Bhule Bhatke Tiwari because of the fact that he took the responsibility of uniting lost people to their families in the vast, catacomb-like Kumbh Mela. The man who passed away in 2016 had set up many camps for lost-and-found in the past 70 years and reunited around 14 lakh adults and around 21,000 children with their families.

2. Sindhutai Sapkal

This 72-year-old woman is also known as Mother of Orphans fondly. She takes care of more than 1,500 orphans by herself. She was herself abandoned by her family and then by her abusive husband. She used to beg on the streets when she saw many of her likes on the roads. Sindhutai vowed to help as many orphans as she can and make them independent professionals.

3. Sunitha Krishnan

Sunitha is an activist who fights against human trafficking and s#* slavery in India and around the world. She is a survivor of gang r@pe herself and thus has vowed to save as many women from the clutches of s#* slavery, as she can. She has set up an NGO called Prajwala to help rehabilitate s#* trafficking survivors.

4. Rajesh Kumar Sharma

This Delhi-based businessman has an unparalleled love for educating children. He teaches underprivileged children under a flyover in Delhi. Children who cannot afford schooling come to him with a dream of becoming doctors, engineers and what not. Sharma has been teaching there for 10 years and ever since then, he has received many volunteers for help.

5. Nandlal Master

Nandlal Master was disturbed by patriarchy and social menaces like child marriage and child labour. Instead of ranting against the system, he took the reins in his own hand and decided to rescue young people and educate them to secure their future. He set up a school in 1994 and now he has more than 500 students under his roof.

6. Daripalli Ramaiah

This Telangana based social worker has planted more than 10 million trees alone in Khammam. He was determined to increase the green cover in his village and thus went on a plantation drive alone without any help. He even distributed thousands of saplings for free to promote afforestation. He received Padma Shri for his contribution towards environment by the Indian government.

7. Neelam

Neelam is the first female sarpanch of Chappar district of Haryana. During her tenure, she abolished regressive practices like Ghoonghat and other patriarchal norms. Neelam has helped many women of her village to speak for their rights.

8. Vijayan and Mohana

These small-town tea owners from Kerala have travelled the world! They have visited more than 16 countries including UK, US, UAE, Egypt, Austria, Switzerland and many more. The tea-stall they run is the main source of their income. They save up money and travel, that’s how their life has always been.

9. Jadav Payeng

He planted millions of trees to create a forest along the Brahmaputra river in Assam. It is named Molai forest to honour his contribution. He was awarded Padma Shri in 2015 for his unparalleled contribution towards environment.

10. Chewang Norphel

This civil engineer from Ladakh is fondly known as Ice Man of India. He single-handedly created artificial glaciers to meet the water demands of his region. Due to global warming, the natural glaciers are melting at rapid pace creating a menacing water problem in Ladakh. He was awarded Padma Shri in 2015 by the Indian government.
