IndiGo is one of the most used Airlines in India due to its low cost standard flights. An annual report conducted by AirHelp placed IndiGo among the “world’s worst airlines” in the 2024 survey that covers data from January to October. It placed the domestic carrier at 103rd place out of 109 analyzed with a score of 4.80. The report ranked Air India at 61st with a score of 6.15 and AirAsia at 94th. IndiGo refuted the claims of the report.

AirHelp is an EU-based claim processing agency, they conduct the survey to evaluate airlines globally on punctuality, quality of service, and handling of compensation claims. These criteria weighed equally, form the overall score. The analysis covers data from January to October, incorporating on-time performance, customer claims processing, and feedback from passengers across 54 countries on food, comfort, and service.

Bloomberg quoted AirHelp CEO Tomasz Pawliszyn, who clarified that the rankings aim to “encourage airlines to continuously listen to passenger feedback,” providing a snapshot of airline performance.
IndiGo condemned the methodology, “casting doubt on the survey’s credibility”
On Wednesday, the airlines refuted the survey that placed it among the world’s worst airlines. The airline claimed that the methodology of the survey is not transparent.
In its statement, the Airline stated that the survey does not reveal the sample size from India, which leaves a question mark on the survey’s credibility. IndiGo also pointed out that the survey did not consider the methodology and compensation guidelines followed by the global aviation industry.
The airline highlighted its strong track record, citing that it consistently scores high on punctuality and has the lowest customer complaint ratio among airlines of similar size and operational scale.

“As India’s most preferred airline, IndiGo refutes the findings of this survey and reiterates its promise of on-time, affordable, courteous and hassle-free travel experience for its customers”

There are over a billion people in India. As per data, the total air passenger traffic is over 220 million (2024). Having 65% of that traffic (more than 100 million), shows the dominance level. If any business has such dominance, will only take things for granted.

Some times I feel these ratings are over rated. I have flown emirates, British, Qatar, Air Fraud ,Lufthansa on most busy routes and all if them had delays and issues. Air France was the worst!

Never had problems with indigo.
Never had any delays.
Boarding and deboarding are always a few minutes early.Staff are also responsive which is tough when you compare to the Indian standards.
