There have been numerous incidents when the superfast train made headlines for the unhygienic food served on the train. Once again, the food served to passengers on the Vande Bharat train is making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

In a recent incident, a passenger on a Vande Bharat train found a live cockroach in the dal served

The incident took place while a passenger Rikki Jeswani was travelling from Shirdi to Mumbai in Vande Bharat train. The man took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to complain about the cockroach in the food served. In his post, he tagged the Railway minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, eCateringIRCTC, IRCTCofficial, VSOMANNA_BJP, and Ravneet Bittu.

He wrote,

We in vande bharat train now from shirdi to mumbai were eating dinner and found a dead cockrach in the dal…confirmed by the manager…given a written complaint 16103 dt 19.08.2014…is this new India..

Pictures and videos of the cockroach floating in the dal and the poor quality of the food served on Vande Bharat are going viral on the internet

Another passenger complained that it was not just the dal but also other food in which dead cockroaches were found. Reportedly, a passenger mentioned that the curd served to him was stale.

The X user tweeted pictures of the written complaint, one picture that shows a cockroach in the dal and the viral video in which the passenger can be seen complaining about the hygiene and safety of the food served on the train.

@AshwiniVaishnaw Dead cockroach found in Dal served in today’s Vande Bharat Exp from Shirdi to CSTM. This issued was raised with IRCTC manager who confirmed it. Also the curd served was sour and of poor quality. All passengers feared & avoided the food in C5 coach

IRCTC replied with an apology to the post on X

They wrote,

“Sir, the inconvenience caused to you is deeply regretted. The matter has been viewed very seriously. Penalty has also been imposed upon the service provider and officials have been deputed to thoroughly inspect the kitchen unit of the service provider.”
