Trains are an essential mode of transportation for millions of people worldwide. As a result, it is essential to make sure that they are constantly maintained in order to guarantee their safety, dependability, and effectiveness. Trains must be maintained regularly to prevent mishaps, breakdowns, and other safety risks.
However, Indian railways are often criticized for their lower-quality maintenance practices, leading to frequent breakdowns and accidents. The Indian railway system connects millions of people every day and is the fourth-largest railway network in the world. However, one of the most significant issues plaguing the Indian Railway is the lack of maintenance of its rolling stock.

Over the years, Indian railways have used the same engines, berths, fans, and other things. While for them, it could be a way to reduce their expenses, it often becomes a headache for passengers.

One netizen recently raised an issue on Twitter about the same kind of potential safety hazard on a train.
A software engineer named Mukhtar Ali shared a picture of a handle sticking out of a seat. He also complained to Railway Seva about the damage it caused to his clothing and body. Specifically, he mentioned seat no. 29 C2 on the Uttaranchal Sampark Kranti Express (15036) train.
Taking to Twitter, he wrote,
@RailwaySeva look at this handle it damaged my butt and trouser sitting in 15036 seat no 29 C2. Please fix this it is so dangerous

Ali probably sat on the handle without realizing it because it was sticking out between two chairs.

While it is currently unknown what will be done to address the issue, Ali’s tweet emphasized the importance of routine railway maintenance and safety checks.
However, this wasn’t a one-off occurrence; handles, seats, and other train components frequently break or become damaged. Numerous commuters and tourists frequently discuss their personal encounters with unsafe conditions, unclean restrooms, or food while taking trains.

While the railway has taken some steps to improve maintenance practices, there is a need for further investment in modern equipment and technology. They also need to upgrade tracks and signaling systems and improve the safety record of the railway. By doing so, the Indian railway can become a more reliable, efficient, and safe mode of transportation for its citizens.
