CSK defeated Gujarat Titans by five wickets in the IPL 2023 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

GT chose to bat first with a score of 214 for four. The match was disrupted due to heavy precipitation. The match ended past midnight due to rain. Set a revised target of 171 in 15 overs, the revised target was reached by the CSK team’s Ravindra Jadeja hit the last two balls for six and four respectively. The yellow jerseys ran into the field with joy and Dhoni stayed in the dugout with his eyes closed feeling content as it could be his final T20 league game.

Talking about the post-match presentation, Hardik couldn’t stop gushing over his mentor and the skipper of the opposition team, MS Dhoni

In the post-match presentation ceremony, Hardik Pandya said,

“I’m very happy for him [Dhoni]. Destiny had this written for him. If I had to lose, I don’t mind losing to him. I said last year that good things happen to good people. I think he is one of the nicest people I have met. God has been kind to me, but I think God gave him a little more today.”

Though Gujarat Titans became IPL 2023 runners-up, Shubman Gill (890 runs) was awarded the Orange Cap, and the Purple Cap was claimed by pacer Mohammed Shami (28 wickets). Mohit and Rashid Khan were the joint-second leading wicket-takers in the edition with 27 scalps each.

Hardik collected the runners-up cheque and shield and praised and celebrated with his teammates.
