At present, UPI (Unified Payment Interface), has become the prevalent way of digital money transfer in India given the simplicity of transactions it offers. Digital transactions have increased by leaps and bounds in recent times. Even more since the pandemic situation when contactless buying and selling were our only options left within the four walls of our homes.

This world is rapidly getting revolutionized into one big “cashless” society. With the ease of UPI transfers more and more people are opting for it rather than using cash as a payment option.

Although UPI is a secure payment system, unintentional errors on the user’s part can sometimes lead to financial loss. The most common scenario you may have faced is entering the wrong UPI ID and mistakenly sending money to someone else’s bank account.

But, what can you do to recover the transferred amount sent mistakenly to another bank account?

You can recover the transferred amount by taking the necessary right steps:

1. The first thing that you can do is file a complaint with the payment system used

According to the Reserve Bank of India, in case of an unintentional transfer of money through digital services, the first thing an aggrieved person should do is file a complaint with the payment system used.
