Bhaskar Rao, a BJP leader and former IPS officer expressed his concerns over the long delay of the Rajdhani Express from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Bengaluru. The train was scheduled to depart at 9 PM on Saturday but left at 5.30 AM the next day.
Rao took to X (formerly Twitter) and addressed the issue
He talked about how passengers, especially vulnerable ones like seniors, pregnant women, and children, were left stranded on the platform overnight. He expressed his frustration over the improper communication by the Railways and the inconvenience caused to passengers.

Rao asked why passengers are always subjected to such delays with no proper communication or comfort. The ex-cop emphasized the lack of responsibility by the Railway Authorities. He said,
“Why do you punish us mercilessly when we trust you so much?”
The former IPS officer also proposed certain practices that should be adopted by Indian Railways
According to the former IPS officer, the delay was caused by an incoming train running late. The sad part that got him worked out was that there was no effort from railway officials to provide updates or make alternate arrangements.
He also pointed out that in some countries, if a train is delayed for more than three hours, the passengers are offered a refund or free travel. He also urged the Indian Railways to adopt such practices.
In the post, the officer condemned the railway officials for constantly blaming external factors instead of addressing the root causes and improving operations. The officer remarked,

“When will you officers stop blaming and improve affairs?”

Isn’t it clear that the railway system is at its breaking point, particularly with passenger transport? Successively governments have failed to invest in railway infrastructure growth. It was always populism. This government is taking several steps to fill the gap created over…

Railways have no accountability. Recently I took a journey that was officially supposed to take 2 hours but ended up taking 9 hours. The railways seem to have everything planned but lack transparency. They should inform customers upfront about any issues. In my case, the train…

Especially for the Special trains, everything seem to be taken for granted. There are no proper timings followed, I personally delays multiple times precisely everytime Once I faced 6 hours delay and missed by connecting Train.

Over last few years, more trains running late. Most of them continue to run at same speed and take same journey time. Few years back, some railway minister had promised to improve average running speed. But nothing much changed on ground.

Bhaskar Rao joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) last year
Ex-IPS officer and former Bengaluru police commissioner, Bhaskar Rao joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) last year before the Karnataka assembly elections in May. He joined the BJP after quitting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He said previously,

“I joined BJP after seeing works of the PM. There’s lack of transparency in the party (AAP). It is run like a multinational corporation. Donations are collected in name of fighting corruption”
He added,
“I think I can contribute more to BJP. It has huge pan-India presence. PM Modi’s vision inspired me to join the party”
With the increasing demand for superfast trains and the rise in passenger counts, the Railways sure need to work on their customer service and overall management.
