It is no news to anyone that ‘casting couch‘ is deep-rootedly prevalent in the entertainment industry to this date. Although many well-known celebrities like Kangana Ranaut, Ranveer Singh, Mallika Sherawat, Ayushmann Khurrana, and others came forward with their ‘casting couch’ experiences, it still hasn’t got any better. It is quite normal for people to advocate for a safer working environment be it a 9 to 5 job office or the movie industry.
In layman’s terms ‘casting couch’ means a situation where aspiring actors and performers are asked to engage in sexual favours in exchange for better career opportunities in the entertainment industry. This specifically is not restricted to just women in the industry but all genders have fallen victim to this unethical culture.
