Diljit Dosanjh is a Punjabi music sensation and actor whose recently released film Crew did great at the box office. His upcoming movie, Amar Singh Chamkila is anticipated by his fans. Imtiaz Ali’s directorial ‘Chamkila’ is a biopic of Amar Singh Chamkila, the greatest singer of Punjab. The movie will premiere on Netflix on April 12 and also features actress Parineeti Chopra.
Diljit was born in Phillaur tehsil, Jalandhar district, Punjab in the village of Dosanjh Kalan. His father’s name is Balbir Singh, he is a former employee of Punjab Roadways, and his mother, Sukhwinder Kaur, is a homemaker. Diljit Dosanjh has two siblings, one elder sister, and one younger brother.

Diljit recently opened up about a bitter experience in childhood that his connection with his parents complicated
In a recent interview, he revealed some instances from his childhood that made him lose connection with his parents. In an interview with YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia popularly known as Beer Biceps. The singer disclosed that his bond with his parents Sukhwinder Kaur and Balbir Singh Dosanjh is complicated. He recalled and opened up about the painful experience and said that he was sent away from home without consent.
The singer-actor recollected that his parents sent him to Ludhiana with his uncle when he was just 11 years old. He said,
“I shifted from my home when I was 11. I moved to my uncle’s house in Ludhiana from my village. My uncle had told my father, ‘Isko mere saath sheher bhej do (send him to the city with me).’ My parents agreed and said, ‘Haanji le jaao (take him with you).’ Nobody asked me if I wanted to go or not”.
Diljit couldn’t even call his parents
On his podcast BeerBiceps, Dosanjh also shared that he felt lonesome there and couldn’t even call his parents. He added,

“I was very fond of Diwali and Holi. But in Ludhiana, I used to live alone in a room. There was no TV also. I just used to go to school and come back. I used to have a lot of free time in hand since there were no mobile phones. I couldn’t call my parents because the calls were expensive.”
Eventually, with time Diljit lost his connection with his family. He added,
“So, at the age of 11, my connection with my family broke.”
Speaking about his father Diljit Dosanjh said,
“He hasn’t ever said anything to me. He just said, ‘You will get a house to live in and food to eat. Rest, it is your life.”

The ‘Born To Shine’ star also revealed that he does not hold a grudge against his parents
Diljit Dosanjh said,
“I respect my mother a lot. My father is a very sweet person. He did not ask me anything. He did not even ask which school I studied. But my connection with them broke. Not just with them, with everyone.”
