Ashneer Grover, the expelled co-founder of BharatPe, has frequently been in the headlines, whether it was due to his appearance in Season 1 of Shark Tank India or his ongoing dispute with BharatPe’s current management.
Now, he is stirring up controversy once more, this time for his comments on employment and recruitment in India. Thanks to contentious tweets from senior executives like the CEO of Bombay Shaving Company and the co-founders of EaseMyTrip and Pristyn Care, the subject has been in the headlines nonstop over the past few days.

In recent days, hiring and recruiting as well as workplace culture have been hot topics on social media. For example, the CEO of Bombay Shaving Company recently came under fire for saying that new hires in any position should work 18 hours per day.
Ashneer Grover faced backlash over his remarks on recruitment
Ashneer Grover got into the dispute Wednesday when he reacted to EaseMyTrip co-founder Prashant Pitti’s viral tweet on Twitter. In his post, Pitti has criticized recruited applicants in his role who abruptly withdrew, leaving employers scrambling.
Pitti provided an image of communication he claims was sent by an applicant on the day they were meant to join. The author claims that they declined the offer since they had received one from another employer.
Someone pls solve this hiring issue
This is hugely prevelant & ends up wasting so much time & resource
Once a candidate accepts offer-letter, companies wait for months & rejects all other potential candidates
But candidate decides on very last day, that they won’t be joining pic.twitter.com/R9UfV45eMz

Pitti’s tweet received a mixed response from users, with some endorsing it while others criticised it. But Grover chose to change this debate into a controversy.
The former MD of BharatPe responded to Pitti by claiming that neither Pitti nor the potential employee would take legal action against a firm due to India’s “expensive and broken” judicial system. Next came the part of Grover’s tweet that drew criticism. He advised Pitti, and his wording drew a lot of criticism. In his reply, he wrote,
“Prashant – In India there is no value of contract – neither would you go after someone nor would they as legal system is broken and expensive. So in India it’s – ek haath le doosre haath de. Best to tone down your expectation that you employ daily wagers in guise of salaried folk”

The way Ashneer phrased his tweet and the implied denigration of workers earning daily pay drew a lot of criticism on social media
@Ashneer_Grover How do you manage to stoop so low? “Daily Wagers” that’s how you treat your employees. No wonder you were thrown out of the board of the company you co-created. #boycottAshneerGrover #uninstall @PhonePe.@ppitti I feel sorry for your trouble, but not all are same.

Problem is mentality of people like ashneer. Treat them like a daily wagers and they will act and give results like a daily wagers do.
Firing employees in bulk no problem coz entrepreneurs have to maintain profit margin.

If you think about it, leaving the organization is the only real power an employee has over the employer. If someone is getting a better opportunity somewhere else, why wont they go for it.

In India, employer wants you to join you in less than a month, but they keep 3 Month’s notice period. Negotiation is based upon your previous salary and not according to the post applied for. Numerous clauses and conditions before signing up..to sir taali ek haath se nahi bajti. https://t.co/xkQmLFSEf0
