Shark Tank India, a non-fiction program produced by Sony Entertainment Television, initially aired last year and has had such an impact that even people who know nothing about business have started talking about the startup ecosystem and entrepreneurship.

The show not only helped the start-up explosion in India but also made budding and prominent startups more well-known. After only a few weeks of airing, memes, tweets, and videos flooded social media, saying that the program had been effective in capturing viewers’ attention, regardless of their age, gender, or field of employment.

Due to this, the show has also come up with a second episode with minimal changes. However, the main highlight of the whole show is the sharks, who are the judges of the show. They not only judge the pitches of businesses but also the owners of some of the most well-known Indian brands.

While it is a known fact that all sharks have generated lots of money and are living in luxury, something is going wrong with their businesses.

Aman Guta is the only shark in the program who is allegedly profitable

A LinkedIn user named Ankit Uttam has recently popped the myth that Vineeta Singh, Ghazal Alagh, Anupam Mittal, Namita Thapar, Ashneer Grover, Peyush Bansal, and the other Shark Tank India judges make millions of dollars each year.

BOAT co-founder Aman Guta is the only shark in the program who is allegedly profitable. His post has gone viral on social media and has attracted many kinds of mixed reactions. Now, one famous personality has also talked about their losses. He is none other than industrialist Harsh Goenka.

However, his harsh-sounding comments irked one of the sharks, Anupam Mittal, and prompted him to respond to what he said.

Harsh Goenka highlights the losses faced by the firms of Shark Tank judges

Industrialist Harsh Goenka frequently tweets inspirational and uplifting material for his social media friends and followers. This time, he claimed that the bulk of the judges’ companies are losing money in a tweet about Shark Tank India judges and their firms.

Goenka shared a snapshot of the earnings of the firms of the Shark Tank judges in FY2022. The information claimed to demonstrate that only Aman Gupta’s business, BoAt, had a profit of Rs. 79 crore. On the other hand, Amit Jain, the founder of CarDekho, lost Rs. 246 crore, while Peyush Bansal’s Lenskart lost Rs. 102 crore.

It also revealed that Anupam Mittal, the founder of Shaadi.com, declared a loss of Rs. 27 crores, while Vineeta Singh, the CEO of Sugar Cosmetics, recorded a loss of Rs. 75 crores.

In a tweet, Harsh Goenka wrote,

“I enjoy #SharkTankIndia as a program and I think it is a great platform for our budding entrepreneurs. But whenever I think of sharks, I think of the movie ‘Jaws’ and bleeding!”

However, his comments didn’t sit well with Shark Anupam Mittal. That’s why he replied,

“I know you meant it in jest so with all due respect sir, I think u reacted to what appears to be superficial, biased & incomplete data. Happy to learn from stalwarts, but just to clarify, like u, the sharks don’t bleed red, we bleed blue 🇮🇳 & that’s why we do what we do”

Soon, his comment went viral and attracted many kinds of responses. While many people criticized Anupam for his comment, others asked him to reveal the real numbers. In reply to one of the comments, Harsh Goenka also promoted the idea of revealing the real data.

“You are right”
