The news of Britain’s Conservative Party leader Rishi Sunak becoming the new Prime minister of the United Kingdom on 24th October has grabbed everyone’s attention as he is a man of Indian origin. This has been a moment of pride for many Indians but the recent tweet by the industrialist Anand Mahindra is winning hearts.
On Monday, industrialist Anand Mahindra, who is very active on social media and is known for his informative and unconventional tweets, reacted to Indian-origin Rishi Sunak’s confirmation as the UK’s next Prime Minister.

According to US President Joe Biden, Rishi Sunak being appointed as the prime minister of the United Kingdom is a “ground-breaking milestone” and “pretty astounding”
During the White House Diwali celebration on October 24, the US president also added that the festival of lights is a reminder that every one of us has the ability to expel darkness and bring light to the world.
Biden also added,
“It’s a choice. And we make that choice every day. It’s true in our lives and in the life of this nation, especially in the life of a democracy, whether here in America or for the families back in India marking 75 years of independence,”
While acknowledging the immigrant Indian community’s achievements, Biden said,
“As my brother would say, Go figure! And the Conservative Party! (Sunak) is expected to become the prime minister, I think, tomorrow when he goes to see the king. Pretty astounding. A ground-breaking milestone. And it matters. It matters,”
Rishi Sunak’s rise to power was viewed as an example of turning the tables by the industrialist Anand Mahindra
Mahindra took to Twitter and tweeted a quote by Winston Churchill,

While many lauded the Mahindra Chairman’s thoughtful tweet, one user made a valid point by reminding Mr. Mahindra that Sunak has never owned an Indian passport and is a British citizen.
Rishi Sunak was born in Southampton to parents of Indian descent
His parents migrated to Britain from East Africa. He is an Oxford, and Stanford University alumnae. Rishi Sunak wife is Akshata Murty, daughter of NR Narayana Murthy, the billionaire businessman who founded Infosys.
From one of the earlier tweets by Rishi Sunak, it is evident that the UK Prime minister is sort of fond of Churchill. He once said,

The 42-year-old Sunak is Britain’s third PM. Just two days after his late mother Queen Elizabeth II appointed Liz Truss, King Charles III anointed his first PM after ascending the throne.
Rishi is supposed to join his wife Akshata Murty and daughters Anoushka and Krishna at the Prime ministerial address on the steps of 10 Downing Street.
