For his commitment and work in the sector of trade and industry, Anand Mahindra was awarded the Padma Bhushan Award on Monday, India’s third-highest civilian honour.
The chairman of Mahindra Group, on the other hand, stated that he feels “undeserving” of the prestigious honour and title bestowed upon him. President Ram Nath Kovind presented Mahindra with the award on Monday at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.

While thanking the government for making a long-overdue change in the manner in which people are chosen for the Padma Awards, the billionaire said he felt undeserving to be among those who have made important contributions to society.
Overwhelmed to be among such illustrious Padma Award winners, Mahindra graciously thanked the people who wished him well and congratulated him on his Padma Bhushan award.
He wrote a thank you message on Twitter, saying,
“for all your congratulations on my Padma Bhushan award. Repeating my tweet from last year: ‘There’s an old saying: If you see a turtle on top of a fence, you know for sure it didn’t get there on its own! I stand on the shoulders of all Mahindraites’.”

Mahindra thanked the government for the Padma Awards and hailed other recipients on Twitter. He tweeted,
“This Govt has made a long-overdue, transformational shift in the texture of the Padma Awards recipients. Now, the focus is largely on individuals making seminal contributions to the improvement of society at grassroots levels. I truly felt undeserving to be amongst their ranks.”

Along with his tweet, the billionaire also quoted the President’s tweet on Tulsi Gowda, who received the Padma Shri award for her contribution and hard work in the field of the environment.
Gowda, an environmentalist, hails from Karnataka’s Honnali village.
Tulsi has planted over 30,000 saplings and looks after the forest department’s nurseries. For almost six decades, the 77-year-old has been involved in environmental protection efforts.
In reply to Mahindra, his supporters complimented his modesty while assuring him that he totally deserved the honour.

Who is Anand Mahindra?
Anand Mahindra was born in Bombay to Harish Mahindra and Indira Mahindra. He is the chairman of one of the most reputed companies in India, the Mahindra Group.
After completing his studies in India, he moved on to Harvard University to study filmmaking and architecture, graduating in 1977. He then went on to Harvard Business School to get his MBA.

The list, which was revealed by the Home Affairs ministry on the night of Republic Day, includes 119 people from several fraternities. Art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature, education, sports, and civil service are among these fields. Anand Mahindra was also among the 119 people honoured.
