Anand Mahindra praise Laxman Narasimhan

Laxman Narasimhan, an Indian-born executive, has been selected as Starbucks’ new CEO. Narasimhan, the CEO of the health and hygiene business Reckitt, will join Starbucks in October and succeed the venerable Howard Shultz as its interim CEO in April.

After completing his mechanical engineering degree at the University of Pune, Narasimhan moved to the west and earned a master’s degree in German and international studies from the Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania as well as an MBA in finance from the Wharton School.

Prior to that, Narasimhan was a senior partner at McKinsey & Company and had worked for PepsiCo as well as its global chief commercial officer. He had spent his time at McKinsey concentrating on its technology, retail, and consumer practices in the US, Asia, and India.

With this appointment, Narasimhan joins the expanding list of Indian CEOs of world’s biggest corporations, including Raj Subramaniam of FedEx, Shantanu Narayen of Adobe, Punit Renjen of Deloitte, Sundar Pichai of Alphabet and Satya Nadella of Microsoft.
