AB de Villiers' Response To Suryakumar Yadav's There's Only One Mr. 360 Remark

In the current T20 World Cup, right-handed batsman Suryakumar Yadav has been on fire, scoring three half-centuries in the Super 12 round alone. He has also been one of India’s standout players. In the ICC Men’s T20I rankings, his recent efforts have propelled him to the top spot.

In the match against Zimbabwe, Suryakumar Yadav scored 61 runs off just 25 balls, including six fours and four sixes, to push India’s total beyond the 180-run threshold. As a result, India won easily by 71 runs with this total, and they will now play England in the semi-finals on Thursday in Adelaide.

Not only that, but during his team’s Super 12 encounter against Zimbabwe in the T20 World Cup 2022, Suryakumar also made history by becoming the first Indian batsman to score 1,000 T20I runs in a single calendar year, beating Pakistani batsman Mohd. Rizwan.

However, the fact that Suryakumar enters the batting only after the loss of the second wicket, whereas Rizwan begins the batting for Pakistan, makes his accomplishment all the more amazing. SKY’s score has been hit off just 550 balls, compared to Rizwan’s 1000+ last year, which came off 983 balls.

The fact that SKY can play strokes all over the wicket is one of the reasons he has been able to compile such a large total at such a rapid rate.

Suryakumar Yadav’s talent earned him the nickname “Mr. 360,” which was earlier acquired by the star South African batsman AB de Villiers.

Despite retiring, AB de Villiers, a former captain of South Africa, is still referred to as “Mr. 360” because of his extraordinary ability to play unusual shots to any region of the ground.

However, while talking about these comparisons and claims with Star Sports in Hindi after the match against Zimbabwe, Suryakumar refuted all of them and said,

There is only one 360-degree player in the world, and I will try to play like him

Now, former skipper De Villiers has responded to Suryakumar’s remark

Commenting on CricTracker’s tweet, which quotes Suryakumar Yadav’s above-mentioned statement, he wrote,

You’re very quickly getting there dude, and even more! Well played today

Cricket fans adored the comment made by the legendary Mr. 360 for the new Mr. 360, and it has gone viral on social media with many people praising him for being too modest. While many others in the comments heaped praise on him for his skills, some couldn’t stop themselves from praising Suryakumar Yadav’s abilities to match ABD’s stature.

In his Sunday match against Zimbabwe, Suryakumar played a few risky shots like the one below during the ABD-mentioned innings

Suryakumar’s unconventional stroke, a scoop shot to send the ball over the boundary, was one of the standout moments in India’s 71-run victory over Zimbabwe on Sunday. Sunil Gavaskar, a great batsman who was providing commentary at the time, praised Suryakumar for his unconventional stroke.

At the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Richard Ngarava attempted to deliver a wide yorker on the final ball of India’s innings after captivating the 82,000 spectators. Upon stepping across, Suryakumar virtually collapsed as his bat made contact with the ball.

His scoop on one knee caused the ball to sail to the right of the short fine leg, all the way for a jaw-dropping six, allowing him to reach 61 from 25 balls without being dismissed.
