The discovery of a rat swimming in a chutney in the hostel mess of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in Sultanpur, Hyderabad, reportedly shocked the students. Additionally, a restaurant in Ahmedabad was forced to close after customers claimed to have found a dead rat in their sambhar. These occurrences highlight the critical need for more stringent food safety regulations and responsibility from all food service providers, including commercial restaurants and academic canteens.
