Pune Man Flaunts Fancy Bike Number Plate & Says ‘Catch Me If You Can’ – Here’s What Happened Next

The most striking example of how police interact with the public on social media surfaced some days ago in Pune. In that incident, a man brazenly posted an online taunt, which basically dared the authorities to “catch me if you can.” Instead of ignoring it, the Pune Police delivered a sharp and confident reply on social media. A Pune man tried to taunt police with an illegal number plate and a “catch me if you can” remark

A 21-year-old Pune resident named Rahil, owner of a sleek green Kawasaki Ninja, recently landed in a big problem after he replaced his actual registration plate with a flashy one that said “Will Run.” For those who do not know, replacing a vehicle’s official registration plate with any fancy plate is a clear violation of all traffic norms.

The incident drew attention online when Nitish K, a named social media user, put the picture of the bike on X with a bold challenge to Pune Police. Captioning the photo, Nitish wrote:

Actually, the photo was a grab from a Reddit post where someone spotted the bike at a Kothrud petrol pump and questioned how such customized number plates slipped past the city’s strict traffic surveillance. The picture showed Rahil, sitting confidently on the superbike, black from top to toe, unaware that this online dare would get him more attention than he would have wanted.

Upon seeing the above-mentioned post, the Pune police did not take the provocation lightly and replied,

Soon, the post went viral and within no time, the police traced Rahil and took him into custody. Soon after, the police posted a follow-up post with a “before-and-after update” along with a short video of Rahil (with his face blurred) expressing regret for his behavior.

In the video, he says,

Hello! My name is Rahil and I have a Kawasaki Ninja. I have put a modified number plate on it. And one of my friends took its photo and put it on Twitter and tagged Pune police along with the caption saying, ‘Catch me if you can.’ As a result, police caught me  in just 1 hour. I wanted to apologize to everyone and no one should make this mistake.

In the caption of this video, the police wrote,
