Women have always been harassed someway or the other. The fact is whenever people talk about the harassment of women, it is believed that a man has done that, but at times it is also done by women. There are many cases like that. Even by the simplest of things like the length of clothes or torn jeans, women get accused a lot which is obviously not a good sign of a healthy society. But who cares about that anyway?

Below are some of the incidents in India where Moral Police were on duty:

1. In Assam’s Tezpur a 19 year old girl wasn’t allowed to sit for an exam because she wore shorts to the center

The fact is she went to the center with her father itself! Yet she wasn’t allowed to take the exams.

2. Random man in Bengaluru stopped two girls who were wearing shorts and asked them not to wear the type of clothes she was wearing

“You must follow Indian rules; Please wear proper clothes.” said the man in the video that went viral on Facebook.

3. Actor Samyuktha Hedge with her friends was wearing a sports bra and working out in the public park. Then a random woman approached her and asked her to wear proper clothes.

She videotaped the entire thing and posted that on social media, the ugly that was a lot of people agreed that she shouldn’t have worn that kinda clothes.

4. Punjab University put up a notice in the girls’ hostel which stated that the girls should wear proper clothes before they visited the mess and canteen of the hostels

5. A young woman was questioned by an elderly woman regarding the length of her clothes in Gurugram, Haryana

When he confronted and showed her off, the woman told 7 men to rape the girl and the men literally laughed off. One of the women who backed the girl up said, “she has a body to flaunt, so she does. You clearly don’t have a body to flaunt, so shut up.”

6. In Chennai women were legitimately asked by officials at RTO to dress properly before taking their driving test

The officials refused to let women take the test unless and until they were dressed properly. And the shocking fact was the women were wearing jeans and capris.

7. Irfan Pathan’s wife was vigorously trolled on social media as her hand was visible through the burqa she was wearing

But also her nails had nail polish on, and people seemed to have a bit of problem because of that.

8. A women’s college in Patna started imposing fine on women who did not wear salwar kameez and dupatta to the college

They stated that not wearing clothes like that was not good for the college environment.

9. Ripped jeans, sleeveless clothes banned at some Mumbai colleges

Colleges like St. Xaviers Mumbai, Wilson college etc banned torn jeans and sleeveless clothes on campus.

10. At a catholic college in Bangalore a student was stopped by the dean for wearing capri in the campus

She was asked to leave the college and buy new pants and then return.

11. For a reality show, Nargis Fakhri was asked by the makers to pin her neckline cut since her dress was way too revealing for a family show

12. Bollywood actress Shriya Saran was slammed and publicly shamed by a political party because she was wearing indecent clothes at an event

She was also forced to apologise.

13. Maharashtra government banned T-shirts, jeans and slippers for its employees

They also asked them to avoid wearing clothes with deep color and strange patterns or pictures.

The worst part of all is that some people of this general still don’t retaliate regarding these. When will the people stand up for what’s right and what’s slut-shaming?
