Meet Sangay Tsheltrim, The Only Real-Life Soldier In Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan

Jawan, the eagerly awaited film starring Shah Rukh Khan, has finally hit theaters. And it’s safe to say that his fans have gone wild over it. Notably, the movie is in the news for all the right reasons. This craze appears to be enduring, as audiences are showing their unwavering support by watching Atlee’s directorial masterpiece approximately five times.

Yeah, this is all true and not an exaggeration. Additionally, delighted moviegoers flocked to Indian theaters on a Thursday morning before sunrise to celebrate the debut of the recently released SRK movie. They danced in the streets and set off firecrackers as part of their joyful celebrations. Videos and pictures posted on social media showed SRK’s admirers shouting and yelling for him in front of theaters across India.

Jawan, which debuted on September 7th, has already raked in over Rs 240 crore at the global box office. These figures cemented its place as one of the most profitable movies ever.

However, not many people know that the Jawan movie also has one real Jawan, or a soldier. There’s a character named Sangay Tsheltrim who plays a pivotal role in Jawan. Interestingly, he had been a part of the Bhutanese Army.

Who is Sangay Tsheltrim?

Sangay Tsheltrim, born on March 5, 1982, is a multifaceted personality hailing from Bhutan. He is well-known for his work as an actor, model, businessman, bodybuilder, former Army officer, and social media star.

For those who aren’t aware of Sangay’s background, it’s interesting to learn that he served in the Bhutanese Army for almost two decades. Sangay uploaded a touching photo of himself wearing his uniform and wrote,

“The best thing that happened in my life was wearing this uniform. I felt different, I felt honoured, I still feel proud and I feel blessed. Once a soldier, always a soldier. The Royal Bodyguards 2008-2013.”

Why did he leave the Army?

His time in the military ignited a great enthusiasm for fitness that ultimately led to a successful bodybuilding career. However, due to this, he left the Army.

Nevertheless, in his bodybuilding career, Sangay competed in events all over the world and earned the renowned title of “Mr. Bhutan.” Interestingly, he first tried acting by accident a few years ago, when he was chosen to star in the action-packed movie “Radhe” by none other than Salman Khan. Sangay played an evil character in his Bollywood debut. Speaking about this with Mid-Day, he said,

“Even in my Bollywood debut, nothing was planned. It was my destiny and Salman sir’s kindness that I got the offer.”

Played the character of a police officer named Juju in Jawan

Sangay Tsheltrim plays Juju, a police officer who first encounters SRK’s anti-hero in the opening scenes of the movie Jawan Their encounter culminates in a gripping fight scene that adds intensity to the storyline. As a former soldier in the Bhutanese Army, Sangay stands out among the cast of the movie Jawan, which is about soldiers.
