Bollywood Actress Rekha Has 6 Sisters Who Are Celebrities In Their Fields

Rekha has definitely established herself as the Golden Girl of Bollywood for reasons that don’t even need explanation. Rising from a humble background, the brown-skinned beauty, carved a name for herself in the industry. While most of the Bollywood actresses have their kinds working in the showbiz itself, Rekha’s family chose a rather different path for themselves.

But before that, let’s give you a brief flashback into the life of Bollywood’s queen Rekha. Rekha is the daughter of Gemini Ganesan, who was a superstar of Tamil film industry back then. Having married thrice, Ganesan had 4 daughters with his first wife, 2 daughters Rekha and Radha from his second wife and 2 kids, a daughter and a song with his third wife Savitri.

Rekha has started working in the film industry from quite a young age. Amid all this, her siblings have helped her a great deal to manage home and expenses. Despite not having a very healthy relationship with her father, Rekha is very close to her sisters and brother.

Her six sisters are Jaya Shreedhar, Narayani Ganeshan, Vijya Chamundeshwary. Revati Swaminathan, Radha Usman Saiyad, and Kamla Sewalraj.

1. Radha

Just like her sister, Rekha, Radha has done quite a work in the South Indian film industry before getting married. After her wedding, she stopped doing movies and settled down with her husband.

2. Dr. Revathi Swaminathan

She is the elder sister of actress Rekha. She is a well-known doctor in the USA. She has been practising radiation oncologist in Illinois, USA.

3. Dr. Kamala Selvaraj

She is the second sister of Rekha is a renowned doctor in a hospital in Chennai. She runs her own hospital named GG Hospital in Chennai in the honour of her father Gemini Ganesan.

4. Narayani Ganesan

Narayani Ganesan is not a doctor unlike most of her sisters. Narayani is Associate Editor at The Times of India and writes on environment, science, philosophy and heritage. She edits two popular columns on philosophy, spirituality, sustainable living and wellness, The Speaking Tree and Sacred Space, in TOI and ET.

5. Vijaya Chamundeswari

Vijaya Chamundeswari is a popular Indian fitness expert. She is the daughter of South Indian superstar Savitri and a step-sister of Rekha.

6. Dr. Jaya Shreedhar

Jaya Shreedhar, as her prefix suggests, is a doctor and also a health advisor with Inter News Network. She is the youngest of the seven daughters of South Indian superstar Gemini Ganesan. She is the one who got to spend the most time with her father. When she was born, Gemini Ganesan was already a big name in the industry. During one of her interviews, she described meeting her step-sisters during childhood as one wild cousins reunion.

Though, Rekha hasn’t shared the same womb with her 6 sisters, she shares a cordial bond with them. In December 2004, when their father Gemini Ganesan was very ill, the sisters came together and took care of him.

In February 2005, the six beauties (except Radha) came together at Apollo Hospital in Chennai to inaugurate Apollo Wellness Clinic.When sister Jaya was asked about the bonding she shares with her siblings, she said they might have not shared the same mother, but we have had some good moments together.
