1. Jasprit Bumrah was born on 6th December 1993 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat
His full name is Jasprit Jasbir Singh Bumrah and was born in a Sikh family.
2. Lost his father Jasbir Singh at a tender age of 7
Bumrah mother Daljit Bumrah, a school principal raised him single-handedly. He also has a sister, Juhika Bumrah.
3. Wanted to settle in Canada
Like other kids, Bumrah also wanted to move to Canada but soon at the age of 14, he realized his passion for sports and worked very hard to improve at it.
4. His exceptional debut
When he was just 14 years old, he was an expert in fast-medium bowling and started playing for Gujarat in 2013-14 against Vidarbha. With his distinctive sling action, he picked 7 wickets in his first debut match and he was the one who took a number of wickets in the Gujarat Tournament.

5. It was John Wright who noticed him
John Wright, a former Mumbai Indian coach was the first person who noticed the passion for sports in Bumrah during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He was really impressed by his performance.
6. IPL debut in 2013
His mind-blowing performance in domestic matches got him his dream IPL contract. In 2013, the 19-year-old signed a contract with Mumbai Indians and from then, he never looked back.
7. When he took Virat Kohli’s wicket
Bumrah grabbed everyone’s attention from his first IPL match when he bowled Virat Kohli. Regardless of the boundaries Virat hit, he managed to get him out in the very first over. He did not stop here; he also took 3 wickets against RCB after giving 32 runs and impressed the cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma. Virat is his first and 100th wicket in the IPL.

10. International cricket debut in 2016
Bumrah’s ability to perform well in the death and bowl yorkers consistently earned him a place on the Indian team. He played his first game for India in 2016 which was a T-20 against Australia. Bumrah’s debut for India was delayed despite being a regular member of the India-A team since 2014 due to his knee injury. After a gap of almost five months, he came back with a brilliant domestic season, after which he made his debut in IC.

In the T-20 series against Australia in 2016, Bumrah played a pivotal role in India cleaning the series 3-0 and finished as the highest wicket-taker in the series.

Glenn McGrath praised him for his unorthodox bowling that caused trouble and confused a lot of batsmen. He personally suggested him not to change his bowling style.

He became the 290th player of India in Test Cricket by playing the first Test against South Africa. He chose ABD as his first wicket.
15. Record wicket-taker in T20I
He is a record keeper of taking the most number of wickets in T20I in a calendar year in his debut match against the Aussies. In his 2 match series, he surpasses Drik Nannes’ record by taking 28 wickets against West Indies.

Owing to the unavailability of regular vice-captain KL Rahul in February 2022, Bumrah was named Vice-captain of India for the Test series against Sri Lanka and the T20I. In March, Bumrah took his first Test five-wicket haul in India.

Bumrah was among the Wisden Five Cricketers of the Year for the year 2022.

Bumrah married Sanjana Ganesan, a sports presenter on TV on 15 March 2021 in Goa.
