Failed 10th class and became an auto-rickshaw driver

Ranjit Raj Singh was not what you’d say one of the finest students in his class back in the early 2000s. Belonging to an underprivileged family he had a tough childhood. But despite his family’s economic background he still got the privilege of going to school. However, Ranjit had little, rather no interest in studies. This was the reason why he failed his 10th class examinations and at the mere age of 16 opted to be an auto-rickshaw driver in the bustling city of Jaipur.

Ranjit told the NRI affairs that he worked as an auto-rickshaw driver for about 10 years ferrying tourists in Jaipur who used to come to wander around the beautiful Pink City of our country.

Ranjit’s passion to learn English and open his own tourism company

On a random day while driving his auto Ranjit noticed that a lot of auto drivers used to speak more than one language other than our native ones like English, French, Spanish, and whatnot. This impressed and influenced Ranjit Singh Raj to learn English in order to attract more tourists. This was the beginning of his entrepreneurial skills.

In 2008, when everybody was seeking an IT job, Ranjit was more driven to open his own tourism business by learning English and thereby continuing to drive his auto rickshaw as well. Meanwhile, fate had some other great plans for him.

When he found his lady love

While Ranjit continued his tourism business and auto-rickshaw driving he met a French woman who was his client. She came to visit Pink city all the way from France. They first met at The City Palace. It did not take them much time to realize that while traveling together around this beautiful city they grew fonder of each other.

But then came a time when she had to leave for France. Via NRI affairs we get to know that Ranjit mentions how despite the distance they still were very much in love. They used to talk via Skype. If this does not give you the proper Bollywood feels then I don’t know what would. Dreamy isn’t it?

Ranjit’s struggle to meet his future wife

They decided to meet again but Ranjit’s Visa application got rejected numerous times. They became impatient but then came a time when his lady love came to India to meet him. Together they protested outside the French Embassy to meet the French Ambassador.

After quite a bit of struggle, one official came to meet them and granted Ranjit Singh Raj a three-month Visa to visit France. He made frequent visits to France after that.

Getting married and beginning a new life in France

In 2014, this lovely couple decided to get married. Ranjit eventually applied for a long-term Visa to permanently live with his family. To move for a long period of time he was asked to learn French. He was very dedicated and took classes to learn French at The Alliance France in New Delhi. Due to his sincere efforts, he was bestowed with a certification of learning and also his long-term Visa.

He finally landed in France and this time not as a visitor but as a resident which was about to be his home. Everything was new for him. He started working at a restaurant and opened a Youtube channel for the same where he uploads recipe videos on his channel. He now dreams of opening his own restaurant for which he is working really hard.

Despite coming from an underprivileged background Ranjit’s passion to follow and do what his heart says is so inspiring. His journey from being an auto-rickshaw driver in Jaipur to being a YouTuber in Geneva is so touching. He is blessed with a beautiful loving wife and two children and we wish for him to be as blessed and happy forever!
