Shershaah the film about Captain Vikram Batra played by Sidharth Malhotra released on 12th August 2021. By far the film has already topped the charts getting a rate of about 8.8 on IMDB. With a pretty good screenplay review, story-line, plot, cinematography, music the film is going well on the OTT platform. Batra was selected as the lieutenant during the 13th Battalion Jammu Kashmir Rifles in 1997. After that, he got promoted as the Captain of the battlefield.
The Kargil war was one of our most remarkable moments. And during the blood-wrenching war, Batra’s cry was, “Yeh Dil Maange More” from the capture point of 5140. It happened back in 19th June 1999 and under the leadership of Vikram Batra, the Indian army successfully captured point 5140.

After that operation got over successfully, Batra volunteered himself to capture one of the toughest points till now, 4875. The historic capture of that point led the mountain to be named after Batra to validate and cherish his bravery. He was also posthumously awarded Param Vir Chakra for his bravery and actions during the Kargil War.
Vikram Batra had a girlfriend, Dimple, who he dearly loved very much. And their love story is very inspiring and unique. Though it didn’t end well for Dimple since he passed away before they could even get married, it was worth the shot and Dimple still misses him very much.
Captain Vikram Batra was martyred on 7th July 1999. The whole nation mourned that day and not only his parents, but he also gave his life just for the sake of the entire nation. Needless to say, we all had high expectations from his film and so did the family.
During a conversation with Vishal Batra, Vikram’s twin brother told that Sidharth did not disappoint and he was completely into the character. He also said that the film took 10-12% cinematic liberty.

When Vishal was asked about how it is to be without his brother now, he says, it is really hard to be his twin while he is not there with him. The whole family talks about Vikram every day and during the conversation it makes them miss Vikram more and more every day.
While Captain Batra was martyred on the 7th of July in 1999, his legacy lives on and not just in the memories of this country but through his family. And the family approved of his great job and not butchering the entire plot of the whole story as well.
Kiara, who played the role of Dimple, did it in the most natural way possible as well. The music was very well placed, especially the song, Ranjha it really added a lot of depth to the scenes and the on-screen characters.
Sidharth Malhotra went to the Vikram Batra’s father and ended up chatting for more than 3 hours about him. That’s when Vishal realized there’s some kinda emotional will in Siddharth which would actually make him live up to their expectations about this biopic.
Vikram Batra brother Vishal Batra currently works as a retail Business Head in ICCI bank. Captain Vikram also has two sisters – Seema and Nutan but not very much are known about them.
After watching the film of course Captain Vikram’s parents went through an emotional roller coaster. Their father also talked about the scene where Captain Batra was gunned down by the soldiers.
“A Pakistani soldier in hiding targets him and some three to four bullets hit him in the chest. He then falls down and bleeds from the mouth when he chants his unit’s war cry ‘Hail Mother Durga’ (Durga Mata ki Jai).”
He then falls down and becomes a martyr. It was a very emotional moment for us. The family kept their private affairs low-key and did not reveal much about them to the media. But Dimple, his girlfriend did not marry and lived a life of a widow after Vikram came back home wrapped in tri-colors. And now she talks about how proud she is, and how she’d want him to be there with her while people talk about his bravery and she believes they’ll definitely meet again when it’s the right time.
