Guide (1965)

It is believed that the Hindi cinema was not matured in the 90s. However, there was a film, Guide that featured Dev Anand and Waheeda Rahman, which was way ahead of the time. It maturely showcased adultery. Instead of putting the characters in a bad light for breaking the purity of marriage, the movie made people think that it’s okay for two people to fall out of love.

Guide had a love triangle between Rosie, Marco, and Raju. All the characters evolved as the story moved forward and it made viewers believe what happily ever after is all about.

Manmarziyaan (2019)

Anurag Kashyap came out of Gangs of Wasseypur avatar and gave us a love story. It revolves around Rumi (Taapsee Pannu) who is head over heels in love with DJ Sandhu (Vicky Kaushal). The latter is immature and doesn’t want any commitment. Due to family pressure, she gets married to Robbie (Abhishek Bachchan). The latter loves her but she couldn’t stop thinking about her ex. DJ Sandhu wants her back but she starts falling in love with Robbie .

Obviously, Rumi was confused, so are we when we fall in love and it’s perfectly ok if she makes her own choice. The movie perfectly showcases what millennial love is.
