Early Life and Education

Babil Khan was born on September 27, 1997, in Mumbai, India. Babil Khan age is 25 years as of 2023.

He completed his schooling at Tridha School in Mumbai. Later, he went on to study film at the University of Westminster in London.

During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, he was stuck in London (due to his studies there), his mother Sutapa Sikdar uploaded a post on her social media account requesting the Indian government to help the students studying abroad to bring them back to India.

Babil Khan is the eldest son of the late Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan. His mother is Sutapa Sikdar. He grew up in a creative and artistic environment. In 2022, after sharing a photo of Irrfan Khan on his death anniversary, Babil Khan captioned a lengthy Instagram post,

“Dearly beloved baba, I’m trying to remember what scent you wore when we went to Norway to watch the lights dance. I recall the sensation of your perfume but not its materiality. I recall the sensation on my fingertips as you spread my hands to tell me my fortunes, but the thought of the playful pressure on my nostrils frightens me. I have begged and pleaded with the heavens to keep my body from forgetting since my spirit is not yet ready to surrender. I’m not ready to go on, and I’m okay with the chance that I never will be; we were never ruled by logic.”

Babil Khan’s father is a Muslim and his mom is a Hindu. Babil Khan said in an interview,

‘but I was raised as a man without a religion.’ I’ve celebrated holidays like Diwali, Holi, and Raksha Bandhan, as well as going to church.’

Babil Khan Career

Babil Khan followed in his father’s footsteps and pursued acting and filmmaking. He made his acting debut with the Netflix movie Qala. Directed by Anvitaa Dutt, this movie is a coming-of-age story of the life of a girl trying to cope with the loss of her mother. The male lead in the movie is played by none other than the young and talented Babil Khan. He received critical acclaim for his performance.

Qala was one of the most trending movies on Netflix in 2022 produced by Anushka Sharma’s brother Karnesh Sharma’s Clean Slate Films. Actresses Swastika Mukherjee and Tripti Dimri also feature in Qala.
