When he was a student at IIT Delhi, Azhar, Deepit, and Anunay were presented with the opportunity to attend various entrepreneurial seminars hosted by TLabs which is an initiative of the Times Internet group. They got to interact with many established entrepreneurs through those seminars and even secured ₹10 lakh against a 10% equity stake for their vision.

How did Inshorts start?

During his college days, Azhar and his mates Deepit Purkayastha and Anunay Pandey started a Facebook page, “News In Shorts,” after realizing that the traditional news outlets failed to provide brief and to-the-point news to people. So, they revolutionized the way the Indian public consumed news. They started sharing summarised versions of trending news on their page which can be easily read within a span of one minute.

What is Inshorts?

In 2013, Azhar Iqubal dropped out of IIT Delhi to give his undivided attention to the startup. On September 4, 2013, the News In Shorts mobile app was launched by them where they delivered trending news with a word limit of sixty words or less making the content easily consumable within just thirty seconds.
