Actors like Zareen Khan were not born with a silver spoon. A girl born in a modest Muslim Pathan family in Mumbai, she seems to live peacefully, but fate has different plans. After her father abandoned her family, all responsibilities fell upon her. She juggled call center shifts and front desk jobs. However, along with this, she quietly scripted a story no one could see coming. Along with those full-time jobs, she also started engaging in promotional work for various brands and also started freelance modeling.
Nevertheless, things changed when she debuted in Bollywood alongside Salman Khan in the movie ‘Veer’ as Princess Yashodhara. After this, she got an opportunity to work in various films. However, this is not the end of her problems. The problem of being overweight always haunted her. Now, some people started age-shaming her despite being 38, she is still unmarried. Zareen Khan has also got the best answer to such trolling.

Zareen Khan shared a video, reacting to age-shaming comments she received
Actress Zareen Khan recently made a video exposing the backward thinking of society on marriage and a woman’s age. Basically, she reacted to the netizen’s comment saying, “Shaadi kar lo, buddhi ho rahi ho” (Get married, you are becoming old), which she got in a comment section of one of her Instagram images. She questioned why marriage is frequently viewed as the answer to all of life’s issues, particularly for women. Captioning her video, she wrote,

It’s no more Shaadi ka Laddu , now it’s more like Shaadi ka Lollipop. Aapka kya khyaal hai?
In her video, Zareen said,
Lately, I read some comments on my videos and posts. There is one comment that really stood out: ‘Shaadi kar lo, buddhi ho rhi ho.’ What does this even mean? I don’t understand if it’s something specific to our country or a universal problem. Somehow, marriage seems to be seen as the ultimate solution.
Furthermore, Zareen Khan highlighted that families wanted to marry their children when they are not productive in their lives. She added that this notion ruins people’s lives.
She said,

If someone isn’t focused in life, isn’t doing work or business, family members suggest getting them married. But how is that a solution? A person who can’t take responsibility for themselves or care for their family shouldn’t be burdened with another. It will only ruin both lives. I don’t think this will work. Also, if a child is lost—whether a boy or a girl—most parents believe the only solution is to get them married.
At last, Zareen Khan argues whether people took marriage as magic and said that marriage is not the answer to everything. She said,

Is marriage some kind of magic that fixes everything? From what I see, most marriages these days last just two or three months, if at all. I definitely don’t think marriage is the answer to all our problems.

While Zareen Khan’s apologetic take on marriage grabs a great deal of attention, we need to see that such of mentality still prevails in the society. And it’s not just affecting normal people like us, but actors are also not untouched by this. Her video wasn’t a rant; it was a reality check. And maybe, just maybe, it’s time more people start asking whether marriage is truly the answer, or just an easy escape?
