How a mangalsutra helped unfold the conspiracy behind Raja Raghuvanshi’s murder

According to Deputy Inspector General DNR Marak, during the investigation, the officers found a mangalsutra and toe ring belonging to Sonam Raghuvanshi in a suitcase left behind by the couple at a homestay in Sohra. It has been reported that the couple had checked into the homestay for a while as they failed to get a room without prior booking. So, they allegedly decided to leave their bag behind while they went for a trek to Nongriat. The officer told NDTV,

“In the room of the homestay, we found Sonam’s mangalsutra and a ring in the suitcase, which gave us the first doubt. Why would a woman who recently got married leave her mangalsutra in a suitcase during their honeymoon?”

This seemingly insignificant clue proved critical to the investigation, exposing the chilling murder that ended the life of the unsuspecting groom, who went on a honeymoon with his wife.
