Raja Raghuvanshi’s honeymoon murder case has been the talk of the town ever since his dead body was found in a gorge in Meghlaya. His murder has shocked the nation as the prime suspect in the murder case is his newly-wed wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi.
According to reports, Sonam planned the murder along with some accomplices, including her boyfriend, Raj Kushwala, and three hired assailants, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi. But as the investigation proceeds, a new name has surfaced in the murder mystery, Jitendra Raghuvanshi, that has added a new twist.

Who is Jitendra Raghuvanshi?
With the ongoing investigation of the honeymoon murder case, almost every day, new revelations are being made. Jitendra Raghuvanshi’s name is now giving the case a new twist. The Meghalaya Police has so far arrested five suspects.

On June 11, 2025, the five accused were taken to Meghalaya and have been remanded to an eight-day police custody. Reportedly, the account that was allegedly used by Sonam Raghuvanshi to make the initial payments to the hitmen who were hired to kill Raja on May 23, 2025, was under the name Jitendra Raghuvanshi.
When Sonam’s brother, Govind, was questioned about who Jitendra was, he told the media that Jitendra was their maternal cousin. Govind also disclosed that Sonam Raghuvanshi’s UPI account was opened under the name of Jitendra.

However, in an earlier interview with Hindustan Times, Govind was not able to explain why the account was not opened under Sonam Raghuvanshi’s name. Jitendra’s name has now raised doubts about Sonam making the transactions through the Hawala route after it was found that her family’s business has alleged Hawala links.
According to a report by The New Indian Express, Sonam’s brother had denied the claims of the link to Hawala. However, he acknowledged that Jitendra was a junior employee at their family’s plywood business. He said that Jitendra’s account had their money, which was used to make regular transactions. He was quoted as saying,
“We don’t have to do anything with hawala. False stories are being cooked up. The man Jitendra Raghuvanshi, whose name is cropping up, is my maternal cousin as well as a junior employee in our family business, who looks after loading and unloading in the godown. The account in his name actually has that money of ours which is spent on taking care of the day-to-day expenditure of the business.”
Sonam’s brother went to Indore on June 10, 2025, to console and support the grieving Raja Raghuvanshi’s family
Sonam Raghuvanshi’s brother, Govind, visited Raja’s family in Indore and consoled the grieving family. He also apologised for his sister’s alleged involvement in the murder of Raja. Govind also revealed that he also believes Sonam was behind the murder and that his family has also cut all ties with Sonam. He also added that they will support Raja’s family in their fight for justice. He said,
“I met Sonam in Ghazipur for just two minutes and questioned her intensely. Her reactions were enough to make me realise she had committed the crime.”
