To this, a fan asked a bizarre and cheeky question that has been doing the rounds on social media. Addressing the actress, the fan claimed that Glenn Maxwell never performed well for Punjab Kings (PBKS), co-owned by Preity Zinta, because she did not get married to him.
The context of the question was that Maxwell struggled to make an impact while playing for Punjab Kings. However, after moving to RCB, his performance improved significantly.

Preity gave a befitting reply to the bizarre question from her fan
Highlighting the gender bias she faces as a woman in the cricket industry, in her response, she questioned whether male team owners receive similar scrutiny, emphasizing that such inquiries reflect a deeper issue of discrimination against women in corporate setups.
She said that she believes that the question was meant to be a joke, but whatever the reason, she did not like the insensitive remark. She also stressed that she had worked hard for the past 18 years, and she deserves equal respect as her male counterpart.

Urging to stop gender-bias, Zinta stated,
Will you ask this question to the male team owners of all teams, or is this discrimination just towards the women? I never knew how difficult it is for women to survive in corporate setups until I got into cricket. I’m sure you asked this question out of humour, but I hope you can actually look at your question and understand what you are trying to say because if you really understand what you’re trying to say, it’s not pretty ! I think I have earned my stripes by working very hard for the past 18 years so please give me the respect I deserve & stop with the gender bias. Thank you 🙏

This isn’t the first time Zinta has spoken out against sexism in cricket. In 2016, she criticized a publication for its sexist portrayal of her, stating,

“Just because I am a woman you presume me to be a bimbo & know nothing about Cricket even though I have been working in this sport and business for the past 9 years.”
For the unversed, in 2017, Maxwell captained PBKS (then Kings XI Punjab). The relationship between Preity and Maxwell has always been professional. Maxwell married Indian-origin Australian pharmacist Vini Raman in 2022.

Preity Ma’am. Hats off to you for this response. You’ve done great work with Punjab Kings and the least anyone can do is show the respect you truly deserve. That people continue to pass such pathetic comments is a shame for all of us. Stay strong and keep rocking ma’am.
