Domestic violence has historically been seen as a problem that affects women. However, in recent times, India has seen a worrying increase in cases of husbands experiencing harassment, emotional abuse, and even physical torture by their wives. Many of them are also coming forward in public with allegations of mistreatment by their partners. Nonetheless, in some extreme cases, such harassment has led men to commit suicide.
Similarly, Manav Sharma, an Agra-based TCS engineer, recently passed away. In an emotional video that he left behind, he expressed his heart on how no one pays attention to guys and their emotions. Manav was wearing a dupatta around his neck in the heartbreaking video, with one end of it connected to the fan. He accused Nikita Sharma, his wife, of having affairs and hanged himself. Now, a video has been making the rounds online that shows Nikita Sharma agreeing to the accusations.

Mai ne *** bhi kiya hai, mai ne Manav ko Abhishek ke baare mein bataya tha par hua hai yeh nahi bataya. Yeh shaadi ke baad bataya, vo bhi uske kayi baar puchne par.
She also claimed in the video that she had lied to him and made numerous mistakes, believing that this would damage their marriage and cause it to fail. Nikita added that despite their marriage going through a lot, Manav Sharma had never harmed her. Following their marriage, she no longer communicated with any of her previous men. She was cited as saying:

Itna sab hone ke baad bhi Manav ne mere par kabhi haath nahi uthaya. Mai usse bahut pyaar karti hoon. Meri galati ke badale vo mujhe jo bhi punishment dega vo mujhe manjoor hoga, kyunki haan mai ne galati ki hai bahut badi. Uske baar baar puchne ke baad bhi, but vo mera past tha, Manav ke sath rahe ke mai ne kisi ladke ko kabhi dekha bhi nahi hai. Na hi ab kisi or ko lana chahti hoon.
“What a brave girl to open about her past and it was the man who was weak to not hane and took such step.” Right? Indian parents are raising ‘Heeramandi’ material these days, not wife-material. Reality is, the past will always matter. If it didn’t matter, then why do girls hide it?

How did netizens react to her video?
Since it was uploaded, Nikita Sharma’s video instantly went viral on social media and became a hot topic of discussion. While many praise her for coming forward to tell the truth, others still criticize her for ruining an innocent life. Have a look at some of the reasons:
Atul Subhash’s case earlier made headlines for the same reasons
Meanwhile, this is not the first time we have heard of such a case. Earlier, Nikita Singhania was similarly involved in a high-profile case concerning the suicide of her estranged husband, Atul Subhash, a 34-year-old software engineer. Subhash was discovered dead in his flat on December 9, 2024. Before dying, he left behind a 90-minute video and a comprehensive 24-page message accusing Nikita and her family of harassment. He said they took advantage of the law to harm him and wanted ₹3 crore for consenting to a divorce.
Following this, Nikita Singhania, her brother, and her mother were eventually arrested on charges of abetting Subhash’s suicide. Later, a civil court in Bangalore granted them bail.
Similar to Manav Sharma’s case, Atul Subhash’s case has also generated a lot of conversation regarding possible prejudices in India’s matrimonial law system. Many people also emphasized the need for a more equitable strategy to resolve complaints from both partners.
