Zomato Responds After Video Of Delivery Guy Earning Only Rs 300 In 6 Hours On Diwali Goes Viral

A video posted by a Zomato delivery partner where he documented his work on Diwali night went viral on social media. Ritik Tomar works part-time as a Zomato delivery person, whose Instagram reel went viral with 5.5 million views. Netizens sympathized with him as he spent the festive hours delivering orders in Meerut instead of spending time with his family.

The false report was spread when Tomar shared an Instagram reel documenting his experience working part-time in Meerut on Diwali. In the video, Ritik can be seen driving through the festive streets, he also shares how his shift started at 5 PM and ended at 11 PM. In the end, he claimed to have completed eight orders, earning Rs 316 for his work that night.

Recently, Zomato addressed the claim and called the reports inaccurate

Zomato opened up on the claims that a delivery partner from Meerut earned only Rs 300 after working for more than six hours on Diwali. The leading food aggregator called the reports false.

Zomato issued an official statement, addressing the misleading reports, the company said,

“Recent articles around one of our delivery partners from Meerut earning Rs 300 for working more than six hours on the day of Diwali were inaccurate and disturbing to us”

Zomato clarified that his actual earnings were Rs 695, not Rs 300

The food delivery platform stated that the delivery partner from Meerut did not work on Diwali. His actual earnings for six hours of work on October 30 were Rs 695.

The company claimed that the delivery guy delivered 10 orders and earned Rs 695 instead of Rs 300. Zomato also confirmed that the other delivery partners in Meerut who worked an average of 10 hours earned between Rs 1200 and Rs 1300.

Zomato’s clarification makes it clear that the income figures reported in the video do not reflect the actual earnings of the delivery partner.
